Going to Oregon any time soon? If you are, be sure to wear your seat belt.
In Clackamas County, a police sergeant recently had an epiphany where he set up a camera with a really long lens, hooked it up to Bluetooth. He figured out that he could take great pictures of truckers not wearing seat belts, sending them to deputies, and the deputies could pull the truckers over and issue them tickets in real time.
What a great way to prove that a person didn’t have his or her seatbelt on. Photographic evidence like that is hard to disprove, and the ticket is almost $100, so wearing your seat belt through Oregon is a good choice.
Seat belts save lives, and it’ll keep you from having to pay out some extra money in an already tight economy. Despite the fact that the workings of this operation are pretty high-tech, the low-tech CB radio will likely spread the message really fast.
