You might not think of truckers as having any interest in being green. Most of them, though, do have interest in things like going green and helping to save the environment.

One of the simplest ways to make the planet healthier is to stop big diesel trucks from idling so long. They do this a lot when they are waiting in lines for various reasons. With technology like PrePass and EZPass that allows truckers to keep on driving instead of being required to stop at weigh stations, the time that they sit and idle is greatly reduced.

These technological advances don’t stop these trucks from being weighed or exempt them from their rules, they just coordinate the weigh station with other technology so that truckers don’t have to stop at each and every weighing station that they come across. They also don’t have to stop and idle and wait at toll booths, and can go through a special line that registers their pass.

It saves them time, and more time equals more money and more chance to rest before the next run. That’s good for the planet and good for the truckers.
