Looking to Reduce Fuel?

pump.jpgA lot of truckers might not know it, but there’s off the shelf technology that can help them drastically reduce how much fuel they use – and therefore how much money they spend.

Fuel consumption for long range trucks can be reduced as much as 12%, and that works out to around 2000 gallons of fuel per year on average.

Scientists estimate that this could mean a serious additional profit for these truckers, and it would also profit the environment because less fuel would be needed and few emissions would go into the atmosphere. Some states, like California, are looking to make these kinds of emissions requirements mandatory, while others are just suggesting that it would benefit everyone.

Truckers have long thought that these changes would be too expensive, but they really are not. Instead, they could provide a profit of $30,000 per truck over the first eight years that it is owned. That makes a big difference to a trucking company in these tight economic times.
