Obama Looking to Transportation to Help Stimulate the Economy

It’s no secret that President-Elect Barack Obama is seemingly very serious about making important and much needed changes to the economy of the country. One of these changes comes in the form of more jobs, but another area that Obama is looking to for economic stimulation is transportation.

There are a lot of roads and bridges in the United States that are in serious need of repair, and hiring people to do this work would mean more jobs and a stronger economy. Another important issue that comes along with transportation, though, is making cars and trucks cleaner and more efficient so that individuals who must drive them to work and for other reasons are not polluting the air.

Getting people out of their cars and into cleaner transportation options is another way that Obama wants to use transportation to work on making the country cleaner, but cars will always be necessary. More efficient trains are also being considered because they can move goods without as much pollution, so the entire transportation infrastructure may be changing in the future.

Much needed repairs to bridges, roads, and highways is an excellent way to stimulate the economy. Although strict smog laws, and the so called “green” movement is a huge contribution to our economic downfall. Unfortunatly we are a consumer nation. Which in turn leads us to mass amounts of waste. Its time we built things that last. Not to be obsolete and replaced in six months to a year. A car is a personal means of transportation. Registration brings in huge revenue for road repairs. Its obvious that money has been missmanaged. Every driver is held acountable to pay his or her fees. Its time our government is held acountable for how it is spent.
