For many truckers, it’s apparently McCain. About 67% of truckers who were polled plan to vote for McCain, and only 27% plan to vote for Obama.
The reasons behind this are a little sketchy. It seems that most people think that republicans are blue collar people and hard workers, while democrats are elitists who sit around and drink lattes all day. It’s a stereotype that’s causing trouble for truckers who do plan to vote for Obama. They are finding that they often have keep their political views to themselves.
There are also arguments that the deregulation of the trucking industry, which was brought about by the republicans, is part of the reason that truckers are having trouble making money anymore. That, however, is opinion and not everyone agrees with it. No matter who a trucker plans to vote for, it’s sure to be an interesting and history-changing election.
