The US demand for energy looks like it’s going to keep going down. With that being the case, oil prices continue to fall. In the midst of all of that, however, gas prices at the pumps are still going up in many places.
In areas where they have gone down, their fall hasn’t matched the fall of the oil prices. Oil prices closing below $100 wasn’t something that analysts expected to see again anytime soon, but now that oil has dropped to the low-nineties per barrel there are high hopes that the prices of gas and diesel at the pump will start falling again, as well.
Unfortunately, the weakening US economy is what’s causing the oil to fall, and that’s also hurting other economic areas, so there’s a price to be paid by consumers for the lower price of oil.
