For the eighth week in a row, diesel prices are down! This is welcome news to truckers who need to work and are not able to profit from their loads. As of this writing, diesel is down to $4.059.
Although not great news, it’s certainly better than it was just a few short weeks ago. And, compared to a year ago, diesel is still up over $1.13 and that’s still bad news for many independent truckers who are not making enough money to pay the bills.
Some trucking companies and owner-operators have lost their businesses due to high diesel prices. If diesel fuel prices keep dropping, perhaps the trucks that have been parked might start rolling again.
The highest prices are still in New England and the lowest prices are along the Gulf Coast and in the Midwest. The continuing downward trend should bring New England prices lower in the coming weeks as well.
